Pamer Renovations

Chicago, IL

UChicago Medicine
Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery

This project involved the phased selective renovation of 6,500 SF of bio wet lab and 4,300 SF of office space to establish the Duchossois Family Institute at the University of Chicago Medicine’s Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery, headed by PI, Dr. Eric Pamer.

design solutions

The rapid fit-out of the existing wet bio lab included new anaerobic chamber and tissue culture rooms, reconfiguration of 23 lab benches and associated support spaces. This allowed the lab component of the project to be up and running through the final phases of recruitment and staff relocation. The office renovation then followed and included an open dry lab, conferencing and private offices. A linear display wall with monitors and magnetic white boards facilities easy collaboration between the research cores that comprise the Institute, while a large mural pays homage to the scientists that pioneered the study of microbiome.
